PROFESSIONAL PROFILE DESCRIPTION

This professional is familiar with the properties and characteristics of metals and gemstones and applies the various corresponding setting techniques; has an excellent knowledge of legislation governing the precious stones and jewellery market. He or she interprets and executes the design of the item to be processed.

The professional qualification is essential for entering employment in sector companies and for practising as a self-employed professional.

TECHNICAL AND PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

CORE MODULES:

  • Promotion of equal opportunity conditions in the workplace and relevant regulations

  • Introduction to ecology and the environment, sustainable development and any relevant sector regulations

  • Computer science and the web: theoretical knowledge and practical use of tools

  • Workplace prevention and protection regulations (Legislative Decree 626/94 and subsequent amendments and additions)

  • Introduction to the regulations on workers' rights and duties, including reference to the characteristics and methods of typical and atypical contracts. Collective bargaining

  • Introduction to the current tax system

  • Introduction to project financing: incentive laws, structural funds, self-employment

SPECIALIZATION MODULES:

  • Legislation and dynamics of the precious stones and jewellery market

  • Tradition, goldsmithing and precious stones in Italy and Europe

  • Characteristics and styles of local workmanship

  • Metals and gemstones: properties and characteristics, design of processing stages, working and setting techniques, stone mounting and securing

  • Natural stone and synthetic stone: characteristics, distinguishing criteria, intervention methods

  • Execution, reading and interpretation of technical and artistic drawings

  • Preparation of materials and use of tools
